Weekend Roundup - January 28, 2019

COLLEGIATE

— What can’t he do? Florida’s Grant Holloway took over the world lead in the 60m with a 6.51 at Texas Tech to move to =9th on the all-time collegiate list. He already had the world lead in the 60m hurdles (7.49) and is among the top five in the world in the long jump. Oh, and he regularly runs low-45 second legs on the Gators’ 4x400m relay.

— Texas A&M’s Devin Dixon set an American collegiate indoor record in the 800m at Texas Tech, clocking 1:45.27 to break the old record of 1:45.88 by Missouri’s Derek Peterson in 1999.

— In becoming only the third collegian to surpass 71 feet in the indoor shot put, North Dakota State’s Payton Otterdahl jumped to No. 3 on the all-time collegiate indoor list with his 21.64m/71-0 toss at Nebraska.

— A school record 2:02.94 in the 800m at the Penn State National put the Nittany Lions’ Danae Rivers atop the world indoor list.

— Matt Ludwig of Akron briefly held the world lead in the pole vault with his 5.83m/19-1.5 clearance at a dual meet with Kent State.

— A 52.25 win in the 400m at Texas Tech gave USC’s Kaelin Roberts the world indoor lead.

OPEN

— Warm temperatures slowed the times at the USATF 50km race walk championships in Santee, California. Matthew Forgues won the men's title in 4:27:28, and Robyn Stevens was the women's winner in 4:34:24.

— Last year’s top-ranked pole vaulter Sam Kendricks opened with a world-leading 5.84m/19-2 at Paris.

— 2018 Continental Cup hammer champ DeAnna Price improved her 20-pound weight throw PR to a world-leading 24.57m/80-7.5 at the Indiana Relays in Bloomington.

— Christina Clemons (née Manning) zipped to a world-leading 7.90 in the 60m hurdles at Clemson.

— John Cody Risch notched an indoor world-leading 11:45.76 in the 3,000m race walk at Findlay, Ohio.
