Project 30 Program

Sponsored by NIKE

Overview | FAQ | News | Project 30 Report

A joint venture between USATF and Nike, the Project 30 Fund provides financial support to athletes who will help Team USA achieve its goal of winning 30 medals in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Project 30 athletes for 2011 and beyond will be selected for the program based on medal-winning potential in 2011 and 2012 and will be selected using performance-based data analyzed by both USATF and Nike. Project 30 athlete selections are subject to approval by both Nike and USATF.

As the financial sponsor of Project 30, Nike will administrate all athlete contracts, in collaboration with USATF. Checks will come directly from Nike. This will expedite the disbursement of funds by streamlining the process. Athletes selected for the Project 30 program will be contacted directly by Nike and will not have to go through an application process.

As has always been the case, Athletes without a pre-existing contract with a shoe company and those with Nike will be considered for the program. Athletes under contract with other shoe companies are prevented by their contracts from signing with a competing company and therefore are not eligible for Project 30 funds.

Including 2010, approximately $8 million will be spent on athletes during the 8-year term of the program.
