Charitable Race of the Year / Charitable Organization of the Year
These special awards recognize the enormous impact that the road running and walking scene has on charitable giving throughout the country, and therefore on American life. In 2002, over $520 million was raised through various long distance running events for charity. This figure increased to $563 million in 2003 and to more than $575 million in 2004. A specific race and cause-related organization are honored each year at appropriate times apart from the USATF Annual Meeting.
