| Description: |
This is the new Derby Greenway from the Main Street gateway to its terminus at Division Street. The trail links tow rivers, three towns and six bridges. It runs along the Housatonic and Naugatuck Rivers and contains great views of the rivers. Most of the trail is built on top of a flood control system, though it leaves the walls and crosses O'Sullivan's Island. It is handicapped accessible, and there are parking areas at Main Street, under the Commodore Hull Bridge, at the train station, and at the Division Street terminus. It is open from dawn to dusk and has a constant flow of users. It can get crowded nights and weekends when the weather is good. |

I enjoy the Derby side of the "walk", watching the fish jump and the ducks swim along scouting out for dinner...makes the walk seem faster. Good job on the city's part.

Great for bike riding! Paved, mostly flat with lots of room for traffic in two directions. Plenty of pleasant scenery along the entire route. You can usually find me riding along this route chatting on the air with my Amateur Radio friends as I have a Ham Radio, not CB mounted on my handlebars. The only reason I only rated this route SILVER is because it's quite short, less that 2 miles in length. It would be nice if it were a little longer, but maybe that will happen in a few more years!
