The course for the Middle School 2013 cross country State Meet at the Botanical Gardens in Chatfield was the worst cross country course my daughter has ever raced on. It was in deplorable condition and not safe. For example, there were too many mole hills and prairie dog holes. My daughter was in the top 20 girls in the team race. When she came to the first turn she was tripped from behind and trample. The first turn on the course was to small to accommodate that many girls. There are many problems that a cross country runner can point out about these course. I saw many boys and girls fall multiple times on this deplorable course. For the future, please ensure the coures is safe for kids to run on and parent can cross the course with out interrupting the runners.

Great new location and course for the MS State meet! Not likely to be a screamer but I think the kids will love running this point to point course with a nice variety of terrain, some easy trail and some pretty rough fields/grass. A "water crossing" is really just a puddle, but still a plus in my book! It's also pretty spectator-friendly; there are open spaces with long views of various parts of the course, along with a few blind spots that will add suspense. The finish is on perfectly groomed grass after a long haul through a rough field- it will be great fun to watch!
