To DJB: If difficulty for Honolulu is a 4 (Diamondhead and winds being the usual challenges) Kauai is a 8-10. Mile 11-21 is all hills with mile 16-21 being totally UP. Volunteers are great, plenty of food at aid stations, pain-aid, and great scenery. This is the hardest course on the Islands but remember if it was easy we wouldn't be doing it!

Running this marathon in September, can't wait! If anybody on here has done both the Honolulu Marathon and the Kaua'i Marathon before, please tell me which one you thought was more difficult, and HOW much more difficult? I've done the Honolulu once twice and wanna know what I'm getting myself into this year, haha

Amazing course in terms of scenery, crowd support, and aid stations. Very challenging as you are either going uphill or downhill the entire time, but I felt you could still run pretty quick because you're always changing rhythm. Last few miles are downhill which is nice if you're not spent by that point!
