To John: the reason it is 4 laps instead of one large loop is logistics. With three aid stations it's possible to serve the whole course approximately every 1.5-2 miles (by running past each aid station twice on each lap).
It also means that you only have 3 street crossings.
With miles and miles of greenbelt trails in Kingwood, I don't see why the course is repeated laps of a 6.5 mile course. I would rather run one large loop like most marathons. It will be a boring run and runners and spectators will have no sense of who is leading the race and in what place the runners are positioned. It will also be dangerous with runners running in both directions on the course.
