Dave, If you choose to run the 2nd half of the course for the half, what time would the start be?..is there a shuttle to take people out there?

This will be my first (half) marathon and I have checked out the 4 - 10 mile markers on this course. It is beautiful, open fields, low hills. Next to no traffic unless you count the cows that checked me out from the field where they were grazing. A bit of low hilly terrain will be a nice challenge. I f anyone has advice for newbies related to this course, let me know!

I am the creator of this route, so of course I give it a gold rating! I just wanted to elaborate on the course description above. If you didn't participate in the 2008 RT marathon, you might be looking for more info. The best place to find all the info is:http://web.mac.com/earthscapes66/marathon The description says, "mostly flat" but looking at the Elevation Profile above you can see there are some hills. Even the "flat" section are rolling. It is the most "flat" course we could produce living in a hilly area of the PA mountains. The course has great views of the Susquehanna river with two bridge crossings. Wooded areas and classic PA farmsteads. Some town areas. Some areas on our historic Canal path that are level but dirt. A section that is 3" packed stone that offers a stable but "weird" running surface. Some people wearing flats said the stone hurt their feet in 2008. That section is only about 400 yds. long, so use your own judgement when selecting shoes. If you have more questions please email me at MontourRec@mac.com I would love to answer your questions and see you at the marathon. Dave
