GG Park permitting issues make it difficult to create a lengthy course without shutting down intersections or closing down roads. Road/intersection closures arent an option for what is a relatively small race, at 1,000 runners. The cross country style course brings us all back to nature--it's the Pilgrim/Colonial experience!

It surprises me that the runners have to go around the same trail twice in order to reach 5 miles. It seems that San Francisco is a big enough city where there could be a 5 mile route without runners having to repeat the same trail twice. I personally did not enjoy that last year, but that is my only complaint!
