Good suggestions for this 5k course guys. I welcome such thoughtful recommendations. Please understand that in order to accomodate the Cathedral's worship services on Saturday's we have to clear that area around that area within about 10 minutes which we could not do if it were in the last half mile of the 5k. It's often the case that an ideal course isn't available due to considerations of each local community, its businesses and busy community centers. Nonetheless, thanks for running the Lederhosenlauf 5k and offering good ideas! GaryWestlund@aol.com / 612-245-9160 Race Director/Founder

I have not run this race, but I have run along the streets in this course. I must agree completely with Dave Peterson that the direction of the race should be reversed. With over 300 runners beginning the race, I can only imagine what dangers the runners faced going around the Cathedral all bunched up with legs and elbows flying, trying to watch out for curbs and potholes and sewer covers and No Parking signs. If the course direction is reversed, the runners will naturally spread out in the straight-away along Selby Ave. in the first half of the race, and the negotiation of the right angles in the Cathedral area will be much safer for the runners nearer the finish, as there will be much more space between them. I hope to join the fun this year.
