This is my favorite run. I drive to this spot for my weekend runs. Scenery is always changing, lots of others running/biking. Overall, a highly recommended run.
Prettiest route I've run
This is my training route. I like it a lot.
It starts on Boom Island and after crossing a wood planks bridge it takes you on a very nice and shaded gravel path in the woods of Nicollet Island with the river on your left. The path ends with a slight uphill then a short and fairly steep downhill takes you the bridge that takes you off the island and to St. Anthony. Now there is about 1/2 mile of flat and shaded path that takes you to the start of the Stone Arch bridge. The bridge is flat and running on it you enjoy beautiful views of downtown Minneapolis, the river locks and falls. After the bridge there is about 1/2 mile of flat path along the river, then past the Federal Reserve building about 100 yards of downhill and then a 200 yards of slight uphill to the final bridge, which has a short uphill initially and a longer downhill to the finish line. Watch out for windy days on the bridges (going against the wind might be tough).
