The map is confusing, so let me clarify the route. From the start/finish, go south and then west on Seward Park Road. Follow it around as it heads northwest, then take the sharp left uphill up to the upper loop. Do about 1.6 clockwise laps of the upper loop, then head downhill to end back at the start/finish point.
