USATF Certified Course No. FL10062EBM We appreciate the comments on this course. The event was moved from an evening race to a morning race for a few important reasons. One of the primary reasons is the weather. Not only is it cooler in the morning, but there is also a lower chance of thunderstorms. When the race was held in the evening, we were always dodging storms. The other main reason for the morning race is the lower amount of traffic. The City of St. Augustine was very happy that we moved to the morning. Because of the ever increasing popularity of and the gridlock in downtown St. Augustine, there is no chance the city would ever let us move back to an evening event. As to the point to point nature and turns of the course... That is the way the course has been for over 30 years. Beyond nostalgia and tradition, the primary reason for the location of the separated start/finish is that we are only allowed to shut down the drawbridge on the Bridge of Lions for 15 minutes. That means that the course can only cross the bridge once during the event. Because of the required point to point nature of the course, as well as the need to stay within the boundaries of Davis Shores and avoid further traffic blockage on A1A, the course needs to have those turns to get the required distance. This course has 13 turns, which is the same as other downtown St. Augustine races. This is what we have to work with in our beautiful city whose streets started to be laid out 450 years ago!

Wish the race was still an evening race. Was a lot more fun back then. This is still a good race, considering the logistics o/in St Augustine. Looking forward to finishing ahead of those who are either afraid of turns and/or don't know how to run the tangents.

UH, No loop? Agree with likes to run n walk above. I like to run races alone so I won't have anyone to have a the finish line....guess I'll have to plan on being strategically parked.

logistically frustrating when a course does not END near the STARTING line...

too many turns for 5K; need to reroute for next year without so many turns, which makes for slow 5K time
