Reigning champs Greater Boston TC headline USATF Club Championships

INDIANAPOLIS - Track and field clubs from across the country will compete for bragging rights and national team crowns at the 2006 USA Track & Field National Club Championships, July 15-16, at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif.

The event is part of USATF's Club Championship Series, designed to help develop future elite athletes and promote the club/team aspect of track & field. Only athletes registered with a USATF club are eligible to compete. Athletes' club affiliations must be part of their USATF membership profile.

The Greater Boston Track Club of Massachusetts dominated last year in winning the combined team title at the fifth annual USA Track & Field National Club Track & Field Championships at Icahn Stadium in New York City with 211.5 points. Shore AC (N.J.) won the men's team title with 140 points, while LeMans (N.Y.) took the women's championship with 160.5 points.

In individual competition, last year's 100 meter runner-up Lee Prowell (Executive Track) will look for the win this year against fellow team mate and last year's third place finisher Clement Campbell. They can expect tough competition from 2006 NACAC 100m silver medalist Carlos Moore (Cheetahs International T.C.).

Reigning club champion in the 100 meters and long jump, Nolle Graham (Lemans Track) will defend her 100m title against 2005 World Outdoor 4x100m relay gold medalist and 2005 Indoor Visa Championship Series champion Angela Daigle-Bowen (Cheetahs International T.C.). Graham also will compete in the long jump.

Also returning from last year is high jump runner-up Bridgette Ingram (Lemans Track), who will face strong competition from last year's triple jump champion, Sherita Williams (Greater Boston TC), in both events.
