Athlete Quotes

Shani Marks - Women's Triple Jump

This is a meet you want to be prepared for. It's hard to get a meet with this type of atmosphere, so you want to take advantage of it. I had a ton of nerves, so channeling those was half the battle.

I'm super excited for the World Championships. I went to the World Cup last year, but this will be my first World Championships, so I'm excited.

Breaux Greer - Men's Javelin

I didn't hit it hard but I hit it clean. I think the biggest thing is staying healthy. If you are healthy it's going to be fun and it's going to be easy. If you're healthy everything is fun. And I know there is still more there. I don't think I'll ever be satisified. I don't know if an Olympic gold or world record would satisfy me, but I want to find out.

Abdi Abdirahman - Men's 10,000 meters

I'm not ready to hand it over yet. I was ready for this race. I will talk to my coach about Osaka (World Championships) but the Olympic trials are my main focus. It never gets old winning national championships.

Tyson Gay, men's 100: The wind was kind this time. 9.98, that's what I was looking for. It's prelims, but I felt real good. I'm looking forward to tomorrow. My body's a little bit out of place coming out of my drive phase, but I felt a little sluggish. Besides that I'm ready to go.

Deena Kastor, women's 10,000m: I was looking for the win. I was also looking for the standard. The conditions were tough, but I never felt alone. I tried to pace myself off the other ladies. I want to go to Osaka to run the 10,000 meters.
