INDIANAPOLIS - Kibwe Johnson has been named USA Track & Field's Athlete of the Week after his victory in the men's weight throw Saturday at the Oiler Opener in Findlay, Ohio.The former Georgia Bulldog, who finished third in the men's weight throw at the 2005 USA Indoor Championships, tossed 24.54 meters/80 feet, 6.25 inches to win in Findlay. Johnson's mark is the11th best weight throw in history, and places him #3 on the all-time performers list.

Now in its fifth year, USATF's Athlete of the Week program is designed to recognize outstanding performers at all levels of the sport. USATF names a new honoree each week and features the athlete on the USATF website. Selections are based on top performances and results from the previous week.
