It might be time to order a new copy of the national anthem CD at the 2nd NACAC Track & Field Championships in San Antonio, after eight U.S. athletes mounted the victory stand Friday at Stevens Stadium on the campus of Trinity University.

The U.S. team dominated the medal count with 23 total, including 11 silvers and four bronzes. Meet records went to Jason Smoots in the men's 100 at 10.22; James Carter in the men's 400 hurdles at 48.95; Megan Addy in the women's 400H at 57.22; Andrea Wildrick in the women's pole vault at 4.10/13-5.25; and Summer Pierson in the women's discus at 53.04/174-0.

"We had a great bunch of performances here today," said USA Track & Field CEO Craig Masback, who was on hand for the first day of competition. "Our athletes proved again why we are the world's No. 1 track and field team. We had medals and personal bests in so many events and competed well across the board."

The NACAC meet is designed for athletes ages 20-24 from countries in North America, Central America and the Caribbean. More than 25 nations sent athletes to San Antonio for the championships, which run through Sunday.
