USATF Podium Effort Project Sprint and Hurdle Seminars

December 15-19, 2006
Imperial Palace, Las Vegas, NV

About the Seminars

USATF presents the first ever Podium Effort Project Sprint and Hurdle Seminars. Come join the coaches of the top elite athletes invited to the High Performance Division (HPD) Elite Athlete Sprint and Hurdle Seminars during their annual meetings in Las Vegas. The HPD seminars have been run since 1982 under the direction of Dr. Ralph Mann and were created to provide specific scientific information and analysis of our best sprinters and hurdlers to ensure that the United States stands on the podium at the Olympics and World Championships.

You will be able to attend the main sessions with the coaches of the top finishers in the 2006 USA National Championships. You'll hear Dr. Mann's presentations on the mechanics of sprinting and hurdling, along with the highly inquisitive, and sometimes combative, questions and discussions of the HPD coaches. Dr. Mann's companion Mechanics of Sprinting and Hurdling manual will also be available for purchase. You'll be able to sit in for presentations by speakers in the fields of Sports Medicine and Sports Psychology. Additionally, you'll attend a round-table question and answer session featuring Amy Deem, Clyde Hart, Curtis Frye, and John Smith (who have coached athletes to countless Olympic medals, World Championship medals, and World Records). And, while the HPD coaches are going over the analysis of their athletes, you will participate in break-out sessions to further discuss mechanics, workouts, strength training, psychology, etc. for sprinting and hurdling. There will be a live, on-track demonstration of the computer videographics analysis system that is used for analyzing and teaching sprinters and hurdlers.

This is an incredible opportunity that you shouldn't let pass by. This seminar is being offered to get the information from the HPD seminars to other coaches who haven't yet been exposed to it. We hope to expand our elite pool of coaches and athletes through this effort. You can become a better coach with the knowledge that you gain during this event. With the application of this increased knowledge we expect you to one day put your athlete(s) into the top finishers at the USA National Championships and earn your trip to the HPD seminar. The seminars will be limited to the first 100 coaches (for each of the Sprint and Hurdle sessions) who register, so act now and come join us in Las Vegas.
