Driving: Exit State Hwy 41 at Friant, travel east towards Woodward
Park. With Woodward on your left, turn right onto E. Shepperd Ave, then right
on Millbrook. Clovis West High school is on your left. Follow signs to school
location No parking charges on weekends.
Air: Fresno-Yosemite International Airport (FAT) is 12 miles SE
from Clovis West H.S. Ample taxi service to school site and or hotel is
102 E. Herndon Ave.

Just west of Hwy. 41 Herndon Interchange, 1.8 mi. SW from Clovis West; 8.0 miles
NE from airport. Reservations can be booked by calling 559-435-5650, and asking
for the "USA Track & Field" rate of $89 per night. School rate will be available
until November 13, and after only on a space available basis.
- Full American hot breakfast available from 6:00-10:00am.
- Complimentary wireless internet available throughout the hotel.
- Hotel does not offer airport shuttle service, though taxis are available
from airport for $15-20.00.
- Car-pooling will be available to/from hotel to Clovis West H.S.
- Matt Lydum, PhD served as the Head Men's Track Coach at
San Francisco State University for eight years before beginning his doctoral
work at the University of Arizona. He was the 1998 NCAA DII Regional Coach
of the Year and has represented the USOC at the International Olympic
Academy. He has worked with numerous NAIA & NCAA DII All-Americans. More
recently, Lydum has served as Assistant Coach on several international USATF
Youth teams and authored a book entitled Coaching Youth Track and Field.
Lydum has completed the USATF Coaching Education Level 2 Program in Sprints,
Hurdles, Relays; Jumps; Combined events, and Throws and acts as the Director
of the USATF Level 2 - Youth Specialization.
- Katherine Butler is the Head Cross Country and Girls
Track Coach at Nederland High School in Colorado. She has coached Nederland
to 12 Colorado State Championships in 6 years. Kathy is co-founder of
Indian Peaks Running Club and coaches a road running group out of Fleet Feet
in Boulder as well as elite post-collegiate and private individuals. Kathy
had an athlete compete for Great Britain and several athletes qualify for
Junior Olympic Nationals. Ms. Butler was a volunteer coach at the
University of Wisconsin (‘98-‘04) and Stanford University (’05-’08). Kathy
has completed the USATF Level 2 program in Endurance as well as Sprints,
Hurdles and Relays. As an athlete Kathy was a 2 time Olympian (5000m’96 and
Finalist 10,000m’04), competed in 20 IAAF World Championships and won 5 NCAA
Championships at the University of Wisconsin.
- Troy Johnson is the Head Track & Field Coach at Cal
State Stanislaus. Prior was the Head Coach at Cal Poly Pomona. In this
capacity, he successfully directed the men’s and women’s programs to new
heights—producing 6 NCAA All Americans. Prior to Cal Poly Pomona, Overall
Johnson helped guide athletes to 77 NCAA qualifying marks, and 31 NCAA DII
All-Americans. Johnson coached one of his athletes to earn a gold medal as
part of the 2008 USA World Indoor 4x400 team. He is a USATF Level 1
instructor and is a USATF Level 2 Coach in the areas of Endurance, Jumps and
Sprints/Hurdles & Relays. As an athlete, Johnson earned a provisional
qualifying time in the 400-meter hurdles for the 1996 U.S. Olympic Trials.
Troy Johnson is a USATF Level 3 Certified Coach in the Sprints & Hurdles. He
has also earned an IAAF Academy Diploma in the Sprint & Hurdles—the highest
level of certification awarded by the federation.
