Southern California Association to Host It's First Ever Ultra Championship

Race Director Chris Rios has agreed to have the High Desert Ultra host the 2005 USATF Southern California (SCA) 50 km Trail Championship. MUT member Lorraine Gersitz will be working with Chris to make sure local SCA ultrarunners know about this exciting opportunity to compete in the first ever USATF SCA ultra distance championship. SCA is fortunate to be able to partner with Chris and the High Desert Ultra, one of California's best run, most popular, and extremely beautiful 50k trail races. I thank Chris for agreeing to have this race serve as our first SCA Ultra Championship. For more information please go to http://www.scausatf.org/events/mut/index.htm

In addition, USATF SCA has partnered with the Southern California Ultrarunners Grand Prix Series. In 2006 that series will also serve as the SCA Ultra Grand Prix Series. The eighteen races that make up the Southern California Ultrarunners Grand Prix Series attract runners from across the state and the country but the Grand Prix Series is hotly contested among Southern California area ultrarunners. Local ultrarunners Scott McKenzie and Fred Pollard are the Series Coordinator and Series Statistician respectively. USATF SCA is looking forward to the partnership with the Southern California Ultrarunners Grand Prix Series. For more information go to http://www.socalultraseries.org/
