Inaugural Silver Comet Ultra Runs - 50 km and 100 km

New 100K Offers Opportunity to Qualify for 2005 USATF 100K Team

Mark February 19th, 2005 on your ultra-running calendars !! This will be the date of the running of the Silver Comet Ultra Runs 50Km and 100Km, sponsored by the Georgia Ultrarunning and Trailrunning Society (GUTS).

The course will be an out and back of 25Km on a flat, paved, bike path, that is closed to vehicular traffic. Starting just outside of Atlanta, in Rockmart, the course winds its way along the "Silver Comet Trail" through the quiet countryside.


Start Time: 7:30 am (both races)

Start/ Finish: Nathan Dean Sports Complex, Rockmart, GA

Facilities: Parking and restrooms are available at the start/finish.

Time Limit: There will be a cut-off of 11.5 hours (with intermediate cut-offs at 50KM and 75KM).

Aid: There will be four aid stations along the 25KM route. 50KM and 100KM Awards: Top 3 men and women - open and masters. No age groups awards.

Post-race activities: The 50KM awards ceremony will be held at 1pm. 100KM awards will be upon finishing.


The race is scheduled prior to the deadline for qualification for the USA 100KM national team that will compete at in the World Cup 100KM at Lake Saroma, Japan in June, 2005. This is a great opportunity for anyone trying to run a qualifying time for the open or masters USA 100 KM team.

Entry fees for 50KM/100KM: $40/$60 postmarked before January 22, $60/$80 by February 5th, $80/$100 thereafter.
