Tommy Badon

Now in his fourth full year at Westminster Christian Academy in Opelousas, Louisiana, Tommy Badon's career has come full circle. After starting his career in 1978 as an elementary basketball coach, through tenures at Teurlings Catholic High School and Lafayette High School, from Blinn Junior College to the University of Louisiana-Lafayette and now back in high school at WCA, Badon has enjoyed a successful 20-plus year coaching career.

In his four years at WCA, Badon has led his football team to 3 consecutive 10-win seasons and three quarterfinal appearances. Both the boys and girls track teams claimed District Championships in 2006 under Badon's guidance. The boys program went on to capture Regionals, with Jordan Redd picking up an individual state title in the boys' 200 meters, and Sara Milam claiming a state crown in the girls' 300 meter hurdles.

Prior to taking on the challenge at Westminster, Badon assisted in building two of the most respected track programs in the country. While at UL-Lafayette from 1989-97 as the recruiting coordinator and sprints/hurdles coach under legendary Coach Charles Lancon, the men's and women's track teams won 14 combined Sun Belt Conference titles. During that time, Badon coached 16 Division I All-Americans, as well as Hollis Conway, the No. 1 High Jumper in the world in 1990-91.

At Blinn Junior College from 1987-89, Badon served as Field Events Coordinator, helping Blinn capture 2 National Junior College Indoor and 2 National College Outdoor National titles. His Blinn athletes captured numerous individual National titles and over 30 All-America honors.
