Directions

Boardman High School is located at 7777 Glenwood Avenue, Boardman, OH 44512. It can be accessed from Glenwood Avenue or Market Street (Route 7) south of Route 224 and north of the Ohio/Pennsylvania Turnpike. Level 1 students should use the entrance at Door #19 and proceed to the Science Lecture Hall on the building's 3rd floor.

  • From Columbus: I-71 N to I-76 E to I-80 E to OH-11 S. Take the US-224 exit toward US-62 / POLAND / CANFIELD. Turn Left on 224 for 3.6 miles. Turn Right onto Glenwood. The school is .8 miles down on the left.
  • From Cleveland: Take I-77 S. Merge onto I-480 E via EXIT 156 toward YOUNGSTOWN. Merge onto I-80 E via EXIT 42 toward YOUNGSTOWN / TOLEDO (Portions toll). Merge onto I-76 E via the exit on the LEFT (Portions toll). Merge onto OH-7 N / MARKET ST via EXIT 232 toward YOUNGSTOWN Turn LEFT onto NISONGER RD.
  • From Pittsburgh: Take I-79 N. Merge onto I-76 W via EXIT 77 toward YOUNGSTOWN OHIO (Portions toll). Merge onto OH-7 N / MARKET ST via EXIT 232 toward YOUNGSTOWN. Turn LEFT onto NISONGER RD.

Instructors

  • Dave Pavlansky - The head boys' track and cross country coach at Boardman High School since 1999, Dave began his career coaching high school and collegiate football (Miami, OH / Youngstown State). He has twice been named OAT&CCC District 1 Boys' Coach of the Year and received the 2007 Fred Daffler Career State Coach of the Year Award for Boys' Cross Country. He was named Head Men's Coach for Ohio's Midwest Meet of Champions team in 2005 and now serves as state coordinator for both the men's and women's teams. In 2007, Dave was among 10 sprint coaches selected nationwide by the USATF to attend their Emerging Elite Coaches' School in Orlando, Florida. He has completed the USATF Level 2 programs in Jumps, Endurance, and Sprints/Hurdles/Relays.
  • Matt Lydum - Matt is actively involved in track and field at the national and international levels. He has served on the USA coaching staff for the World Championships in Youth Athletics and as a USOC delegate to the International Olympic Academy. He served as head men's track coach at San Francisco State University and at Defiance College, being named DII Regional Coach of the Year in 1998. He is the Director of Instructor Quality for USA Track & Field's Coaching Education program and coordinates their Instructor Training Course. He is the author of a book entitled "Coaching Youth Track & Field" that was published by Human Kinetics in 2007. At Defiance, Matt coached two different high jumpers to DIII All-Ohio Championships, and he is currently coaching the #1 ranked DIII hammer thrower in the U.S. Matt has also earned Level 2 certifications in Jumps, Endurance, and Sprints/Hurdles/Relays.
  • David Bellar - After completing a very successful head coaching stint at St. Peter Chanel high school, Dave transitioned to becoming a doctoral candidate in exercise physiology at Kent State University. He is currently the throws coach at Notre Dame College in Cleveland. Dave is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and has completed the USATF Level 2 program in Sprints/Hurdles/Relays, Jumps, and Endurance.
  • Derek Stanley - Derek is a native of Pataskala, Ohio and is completing his 5th season as Marietta College's head track & field and cross country coach. His athletes won 3 individual titles at the 2007 OAC Outdoor Championships and 4 titles in 2006. In addition, he coached the first Marietta track athlete to qualify for the NCAA's, Chris Taylor, who placed 8th in the high jump in 2005. Derek previously coached at Bluffton College where he quadrupled the size of the women's team and doubled the size of the men's squad. He is a 1999 graduate of Tiffin University where he holds numerous records and was an NAIA National Championship qualifier.
