Location

Rocklin High School is located in the Sierra foothills, 120 miles east of San Francisco and 20 miles east of Sacramento. All lecture sessions will take place in the Rocklin H.S. tech hall located in the center of the campus. Field sessions will take place in the stadium.

Instructors

Oscar Flores: Oscar Flores has thirteen years of progressive coaching experience in cross country and track and field, ranging from high school to NCAA Division II and III. At UC San Diego, Coach Flores has a crew that saw four of six returning vaulters qualify for Division II Nationals in 2001, including Steve Pease, who finished third at the meet as a junior to earn All-American honors. In 1998, he coached an individual All-American at Division III Nationals who placed third in the nation. He is certified as a Level 2 coach with USA Track & Field in jumps, throws, combined events, ITC and sprits, while working for a Level 3 certification in jumps and CSCS.

Jeff Gallero: "Coach Jeff " Gallero is the head coach of the Sierra Foothills TC. Prior to coming to Rocklin, Coach Jeff was a sprint assistant at the University of Nevada-Reno, and assisted with cross country and track at Southwestern Michigan College. Gallero's high school experience includes serving as head track coach at Rochester (Mich.) Adams H.S., assistant coach at Pontiac (Mich.) Northern H.S., and assisting with the Michigan (state-wide) Track Club. Gallero is a Level 1 Instructor and is Level 2 certified in sprints, jumps, endurance and throws, while completing his Level 3 certification in sprint start mechanics.

Matt Lydum: Lydum is certified in Level 2 in sprints/hurdles, jumps, and throws, while also instructing in the Coaching Education Instructor Training Program. Lydum is the current Head track and field coach at Defiance College in Definace, Ohio. He was the head track and field coach at San Francisco State from 1993-2001 where he was named USTCA Regional Coach of the Year in 1998. Before SFSU, Matt was an assistant coach at Western Oregon Univ. As an athlete, Lydum was an All-American hammer thrower at Western Oregon. He also served as a USOC delegate to the International Olympic Academy in 1998.

Dave Shrock: While coaching at Modesto Junior College for six years, MJC amassed two Nor-Cal championships and three runner-up titles, with Shrock named Central Valley Conference Coach of the Year ten times. Prior to his appointment to Modesto JC, Shrock began his coaching career 28 years ago at the College of San Mateo before coaching cross country and assisting with track at San Jos State. Shrock serves on the USATF Pacific Association Board of Directors as Coaches Chair, and is a member of the USATF Men's Hurdle Development Committee. Shrock has been a lead instructor for nine years, and is Level 2 certified in endurance, jumps, and sprints, while completing his Level 3 in training theory.
