- What are the dates of the World Youth Track and Field Trials?
The World
Youth Track & Field Trials are June 28 & 29, 2011 in Myrtle Beach, South
Carolina.
- What I do I need to do to participate in World Youth Trials?
Athletes need to meet the World Youth Trials eligibility requirements and
qualifying standards and be 2011 members of USATF. Additionally athletes must
enter the competition by the event deadline. For complete details please visit

- Can an athlete update an entry mark?
Qualifying marks
and/or affiliations can be updated before the close of entries on 6/20/11.

- Can athletes use their own implements for the World
Youth Trials?
Yes. Athletes will be permitted to use their own implements for
competition provided they pass implement inspection. Meet organizers will also
provide a supply of implements for use by competitors not wishing to use their
own implements or whose implements have not passed inspection. Personal
implements, once approved for competition, may be used by all competitors

- Can qualifying marks for entry into the World Youth Trials be achieved on
an indoor track?
Yes. All qualifying performances for running events must be
made on a standard indoor or 400m outdoor track. For a complete list of

- How do I figure out the field event metric conversions?
Imperial conversion for metric field event marks can be computed by using the
field event mark conversion calculator: www.usatf.org/statistics/calculator.
- Why is the World Youth Trials contesting weights/heights/distances that are
not standard USATF events for this age group?
The track and field events being
contested at the World Youth Trials are identical to those that will be
contested at the 2011 World Youth Championships. The qualifying
standards page lists the comparable weights/heights/distances for
qualification and entry into the World Youth Trials. For the Heptathlon, the
hurdle heights and field event implements will be the same used at the USA Youth
Outdoor Track & Field Championships (which are the standard USATF youth
implements/heights).
- Are there other international competition opportunities
for athletes not born in 1994 or 1995?
Yes. The 2011 USA Junior Outdoor
Championships is a qualifying meet for the
Pan American Junior Athletics Championships. For more information visit the 2009

- Does participating in the World Youth Track & Field Trials automatically
qualify an athlete for the 2011 USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field
Championships?
Athletes who participate in the World Youth Trials can be waived
to the National Junior Olympic Championships if they submit the official
entry/waiver form and entry fees to their Regional Coordinator prior to the
athlete’s Regional Championship. The forms will be provided to all athletes at
the World Youth Trials event. Athletes whose Regional meets occur prior to the
World Youth Trials may contact their Regional
Coordinator to obtain the waiver and entry forms.
- May an athlete participate in the USA Youth Outdoor Track & Field
Championships should they not make the Team?
Yes. An athlete who participates in the World Youth Track & Field Trials who
DOES NOT make the World Youth Championships Team may participate in the USA
Youth Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Athletes are still required to pay
the applicable entry fees. It is strongly encouraged that you enter online at
the 2011 USA Youth Outdoor Track & Field Championships
entry page by the event deadline to ensure your entry is processed in a
timely fashion. Athletes may also enter on-site at packet pick by completing a
special form. Entries must be submitted no later than 24 hours before the
scheduled start of the desired event.
- How do I know if my entry was accepted for competing at the Trials?
Athletes who have been approved for entry into the World Youth Trials will have their entry listed as “qualified” on the
Status of Entries page. Athletes will be able to pick up their competition materials and participate in the Trials.
- Can an athlete be named to the team without a parent/guardian present?
Yes. However, athletes will need to complete National Team Forms where some require parent/guardian signature. Visit the “National Team Sign Up” page for information on how to acquire these forms if your parent/guardian will be unable to attend Team Sign Up in Myrtle Beach.
- Does placing in the top two at the World Youth Trial automatically guarantee selection to the World Youth Team?
No. The selection procedures state that up to 40 athletes will be selected to field a partial team to the 2011 World Youth Championships. An athlete who is one of the two highest placing finishers in there event will be considered for selection if they meet all the provisions of the
Selection Procedures.
