Disabled 800 Meter Exhibition

USATF is excited to announce the Youth Disabled 800 Meter Exhibition at the 2009 USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships. This event marks the beginning of our efforts to promote inclusion in youth events and programs and supports the organization’s mission to foster interest and participation in track and field.

Date: Saturday August, 1, 2009

Location: North Carolina A&T State University – Irwin Belk Track

Events:

• wheelchair
• ambulatory

Ages:  High School- aged challenged athletes. 8th grade students will be considered if they can verify participation on a varsity team. This is the only exception.

Entry Information:

• A 2009 USATF membership is required to enter.
• Entry times must be submitted on entry forms along with officials and meet director signatures by June 30, 2009.
• An IEP or functioning level verification is required for Learning Disabled applicants.
• Qualifying times and entries are being accepted beginning Monday February 23, 2009 thru Saturday June 30, 2009 at 8:00pm EST.

Selection Procedures:

• A subcommittee of 3-5 members will review all applications and make final selections.
• The 8 fastest male and female wheel chair & ambulatory times will be invited to compete in the exhibition race held August 1, 2009.
• Athletes will be notified by phone, email, and or letter by July 3, 2009.
