Athlete Quotes - Men’s 100M Prelims
Tyson Gay – Winner Men’s 100M (Heat 1)
On today’s race:
“Honestly I ran a horrible race. Technically I was horrible. The false start
kind of threw me off. I got out of the box and held on to the field until about
60 meters. Then I was able to pull away through the finish line.”
On running the 9.75:
“I knew it was wind aided, so it wasn’t going to get in the books. At the same
time I got to know that I am able to turn over that fast. I’ll be able to do
that when I execute.”
On if he liked anything about the race:
“No. It felt horrible. I know I had the right rhythm, but I didn’t feel that in
the race.”
On if he might run another race at the trials:
“No, I don’t think so. This has been the plan for a month or so. I’m just trying
to stay healthy and get ready for the world championships.”
Travis Padgett – Winner Men’s 100M (Heat 2)
On the race overall:
“It went pretty good. I executed all of the things I have been training on this
weekend. Hopefully I can go out and do the same thing through my two races
tomorrow.”
Darvis Patton – Winner Men’s 100M (Heat 3)
On his prelim race:
“I did what I wanted to do – get into the top two. It’s not about the time right
now, just need to advance.”
Shawn Crawford – Winner Men’s 100M (Heat 4)
On his prelim race:
“It wasn’t bad for a prelim, a first round. There are a couple things I have to
clean up tonight, and then get it back tight.”
Michael Rogers – Winner Men’s 100M (Heat 5)
On his prelim race:
“I got the kinks out today, shook the jet lag off from earlier in the week. I’m
finishing really well this year and the training I’ve done to improve my
explosiveness and strength is starting to show up.”
