Athlete Quotes - Men’s Javelin
Chris Hill – Winner Men’s Javelin
On winning the javelin:
“This was surreal. I knew I had to come up and hit something big. I got the
adrenaline, got the crowd into it, and went for it.”
On his injuries:
“I’m a clumsy guy. I broke my hand earlier this year in the weight room and
jammed my thumb on a rope swing.”
On going to the Worlds:
“I am so fortunate and so excited. I thank God that I have this opportunity.”
On how he feels:
“My body is fresh. After my first few throws I didn’t think I was going to go
much farther until someone passed me.”
Cyrus Hostetler – Fourth Place Men’s Javelin
On his performance:
“I was excited, we had a great practice on Friday. We were saying it just takes
one big throw, and I kept looking for it, but it didn’t come today. However the
cards fall, I am just happy for this opportunity. Whether you are first or last,
it is exciting just to be here.”
On the opportunity to complete:
“I just praise God that I’m out here. This is a great opportunity that not many
people get to do. It’s been an exciting year, a long year, this is my ninth
meet. I’m just excited to take a break and get back at it next year.”
On the wind:
“I’m happy with it, I just chose my second to throw in between the gusts of
wind.”
