2009 IAAF World Championships Training Camp
USA Track & Field will be hosting a Pre-Training Camp in conjunction with the
2009 IAAF World Championships to allow athletes the necessary time in country to
adapt to the climate, culture, and time zone prior to their competition. The
camp will take place in Berlin.
The camp will open to athletes on August 6 according to the travel chart listed
below. Athletes may arrive in Berlin up to 9 days prior to the start of their
first event with the exception of the members of the 4x100m and 4x400m relay

the training camp as follows:

All athletes are required to be in Berlin no later than 3 days prior to their
first event unless other arrangements have been made with the head coach.
Housing
USATF plans to use an outside Training Camp hotel as well as the Athlete Village

For security purposes the hotel information will be communicated directly with

unless they are the coach/medical of record. USATF’s Personal Coaches Policy
will be used if a shortage of rooms occurs to determine those to receive
housing/credential. Personal coaches must be a USATF member to participate in
this program. Personal medical staff must provide USATF with proof of their
medical certification in order to be considered for housing and credential
package. Personal medical certification documents must be sent to
Sandy Snow by e-mail no later than

or via fax at 770-395-6689. USATF will notify support staff no later than July
15 if their request for housing/credential for the training camp has been
granted. A rank order list of those who have applied for housing/credential will
be posted on the World Championships webpage on July 16, 2009. Coaches will have first
priority.
Personal Coach’s Policy - Used to establish Rank Order
- Prioritized by the number of athletes who have medaled at an Olympic Games
and/or World Championships
- Prioritized by the probability of having a medal winner
- Prioritized by athletes whose marks rank in the top 5 in the World by July 1,
2009
- Prioritize by number of competing athletes coach works with
- Participated in USATF Coaching Education Program/Seminars
Athletes or personal support staff must complete a housing/credential
application and provide a credit card for payment during team sign-up if they
wish to request housing at the Training Camp in Berlin. Coaches/athletes who do
not know their travel plan should complete the application with estimated dates.
Coaches have until July 10 to submit a revised housing application to
Sandy Snow. Credit cards will be charged by USATF around July 20,
2009. No refunds will be given unless a replacement coach/medical can be found.
The cost for housing/meal/credential/transportation package (bed and 3 meals per
day) at the training camp is approximate depending on the value of the US dollar
to the Euro. Each hotel may also charge a 15% service charge.

August 6-8 – Single room (limited) – Approximately $175 - $200 per person
Athlete Village Hotel August 9 -10 - Twin room with roommate – Approximately $200 - $225 per person August 9-10 - No singles available
The team will move into the Athlete Village housing on August 9 thus only
coaches who have been granted a housing/credential package for the World
Championships will receive housing for August 11- 24, 2009. Athletes and coaches
are reminded that a separate application for a World Championships
housing/credential for August 11-24 must be filed at team sign-up.
USATF reserves the right to deny or revoke a credential for any reason, including where USATF has reason to believe that an individual
(a) has committed an anti-doping rule violation or materially contributed to the commission of an anti-doping rule violation; or
(b) is under investigation by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (“USADA”) or other authorities with respect to a potential anti-doping rules violation; or
(c) has engaged in conduct deemed by USATF to reflect a pattern of unethical behavior.
Airport Transfer
USATF will provide transportation from the Berlin Tegel Airport for training camp. Athletes/personal coaches/medical flying into Berlin Schoenfeld Airport must make arrangement with USATF for pick-up or they will be responsible for their own transportation to the training camp. USATF will provide airport pick-up for support staff if a travel itinerary designating the airport is provided to
Sandy Snow no later than August 1, 2009. After this date personal staff will be responsible for their own transportation from the airport to the training camp.
