Personal Coaches Housing & Credential Package
Transitional Personal Coaches Policy and Housing & Credential Package (2009
only)
USA Track & Field has the opportunity to purchase additional housing and
credentials for the World Championships. Housing and credentials will be offered
to personal coaches (coach of record), at their cost, of athletes who make the
Team. Since the housing/credential packages are limited, the Personal Coaches
Policy will be used to identify those who will be offered the housing/credential
package. Personal medical will be accommodated if space/credential is available,
with priority going to personal medical who are serving multiple athletes. All
personal coaches applying for the Personal Coaches package must be a member of
USATF. Athletes may only apply for one coaches’ housing/credential package.
Athletes can only apply for a personal medical package for an individual who has
professional credentials to support the request.
Personal Coaches Policy – Used to establish Rank Order
• Prioritized by the number of athletes who have medaled at an Olympic Games
and/or World Championships
• Prioritized by the probability of having a medal winner
• Prioritized by athletes whose marks rank in the top 5 in the World by July 1,
2009
• Prioritize by number of competing athletes coach works with
• Participated in USATF Coaching Education Program/Seminars
USATF reserves the right to deny or revoke a credential for any reason,
including where USATF has reason to believe that an individual (a) has committed
an anti-doping rule violation or materially contributed to the commission of an
anti-doping rule violation; or (b) is under investigation by the United States
Anti-Doping Agency (“USADA”) or other authorities with respect to a potential
anti-doping rules violation; Or (c) has engaged in conduct deemed by USATF to
reflect a pattern of unethical behavior.
Personal Coaches Housing
August 6 – August 10 – Training Camp (available up to 9 days prior to first day
of athlete’s competition)
August 11- 25 – Competition Housing
Athletes/Coaches will receive information about the housing/credential package
offered for personal coaches at the World Championships during Team Sign-up at
the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Personal Coaches should attend Team
Sign-up with his or her athlete so they can complete an application for the
housing/credential package. Housing/credential packages are available on a
first-come, first-served basis per the Personal Coaches Policy.
Some personal coaches will be accommodated in the athlete hotel. The Personal
Coaches Policy will be used to rank coaches. Coaches with the highest rankings
will have the first right of refusal for housing in the athlete hotel. The
housing (3 meals/day included) and credential package for the athlete hotel from
August 11 – 24 is estimated to be between $125 - $150 per person per day for a
twin room (2 per room) and credential. Singles will not be available. Cost may
fluctuate because of the value of the U.S. dollar to the Euro. The cost of the
training camp days from August 6 – 10 will be available at Team Sign-up. The
personal coach/medical or athlete must provide credit card information to USA
Track & Field when the housing/credential application is submitted.
The IAAF will have a small amount of housing at other properties in Berlin. The
properties are all within 15 minutes of the Athlete Hotel. Personal
coaches/medical who submit a housing/credential application but do not receive
housing in the Athlete Hotel will be placed at one of these properties if space
is available. Cost for this housing will be at a higher rate than the athlete
hotel.
All housing/credential applications must be submitted at Team Sign-up. Coaches
who do not know their travel plans at Team Sign-up should complete the
application with estimated dates. Coaches have until July 10th to submit a
revised application. Revised application must be forwarded to
sandy.snow@usatf.org.
USATF will notify personal coaches/medical no later than July 15 regarding their
housing and credential requests. USATF must pay for the housing once
reservations are made; thus, credit cards will be charged by USATF on or around
July 20, 2009. No refunds will be given unless a replacement coach can be found.
Personal coaches who do not receive housing/credential per the Personal Coaches
Policy may request a Training Track credential, if extras become available, for
$60. A Training Track credential provides access to all training facilities
(competition venue is not included), the official transport system, as well as
free public transport. It is to be noted with regard to the official transport
system, however, that this type of accreditation will not allow you to have
access to transport to the competition venue, nor to the spectator stands in the
stadium. Tickets to attend the competition should be purchased online through
the Berlin 2009 website:
http://www.berlin2009.org/131-1-buying-tickets.html.
A coach who receives a staff housing/credential, but who is also a personal
coach who is eligible by the above criteria, will not be eligible for the extra
officials housing/credential. This program is strictly for personal coaches and
may not be passed on to anyone else. This credential does not grant access to
the warm-up track. USATF will receive transferable passes for entrance to the
warm-up track; however the transferable pass does not grant access to the
competition stadium. The coach must have a ticket or credential to access the
competition stadium. Tickets are the responsibility of the individual
coach/support staff if they do not receive full accreditation, as USATF will not
provide tickets for this purpose.
USATF will post in rank order the names of personal coaches eligible to receive
a World Championships credential and/or housing on the World Championships
webpage at www.usatf.org on July 16, 2009.
Credentials and housing will be assigned by the individuals rank order
established by the Personal Coaches Policy listed in this document. Personal
Medical will be accommodated in the same manner if credential /housing is
available. Members are encouraged to make USATF’s National Office Staff aware of
any factual circumstances that might reflect unfavorably on an individual’s
worthiness to hold such a credential.
The housing/credential package is not available for spouses of coaches, medical
staff or friends and family.
