Penn Relays Olympic Development Race Walks April 26, 2008 Results Overview The goal of the Penn Relays Olympic Development Race Walks is to provide the best competition possible for athletes striving to reach the next level. To facilitate this goal, the Penn Relays Olympic Development Race Walks (10,000 meters for men and 5,000 meters for women) will be part of the 2008 USA Race Walk Grand Prix series for Junior athletes. These races are specially formatted to assist the Junior athletes in reaching the qualifying times necessary to compete in the USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the race walk. Open men and women as well as Masters men and women also are invited to compete in the Penn Relays Olympic Development Race Walks. The Penn Relays are not a Grand Prix event in these divisions. Athletes entering will receive a participant's pass that allows them to stay and enjoy the entire day of the 114th running of the Penn Relays Carnival. Each club/school with more than one entrant also is entitled to a coach's pass. Schedule 7:00 a.m. - Junior, Open, and Masters Men's 10,000m Qualifying Guidelines To participate in the Penn Relays Olympic Development Race Walks, athletes must have shown proof of fitness between April 26, 2007 and April 4, 2008. The time standards below are only guidelines. Athletes without times at these distances may apply with reasonable performances at other distances (see below). Acceptance of entry is at the discretion of the RW Event Coordinator. Final selections are made by the RW Event Coordinator.
Junior men and women who have not yet walked a 5 km (women) or 10 km (men) will be considered for entry if they have met the guidelines below. Please list the race's name, date, and distance where you accomplished this performance on your entry form: Junior Women Junior Men Achievement of the above standards does not guarantee acceptance. Size of fields are approximate and will be adjusted as circumstances require. Entry Information It is recommended that athletes enter early, as the target field size is 25 for men and 25 for women.
