Competition Information Event Limits A competitor must compete in his/her age division only. There will be no "moving up" in any events, including relays. Competitors in the Bantam and Midget divisions may compete in a maximum of three events, including relays. Athletes in the Youth, Intermediate, and Young Men/Women divisions may compete in a maximum of four events, including relays. Combined events are not included in the event count. Event Check-In Athletes in all events must report to the clerking area no later than 45 minutes prior to their event. All athletes are required to remain in the designated area after checking in. Bib Numbers Athletes are required to wear bib numbers to gain access to the event check-in and warm-up track area. Lost bibs can be replaced in the packet pick-up area at a cost of $5.00. Relay Uniforms Relay participants must wear a top of the same color(s) and shorts of the same color(s). Advancements All races contested in lanes (100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, all hurdle events, 4x100m, and 4x400m) will qualify the eight fastest overall times in the first round to a one-heat final. Team Scoring Team scoring will be based on the following point structure, with the top 8 places scored: 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 to indicate points from first through eighth place. Each male and female division will be scored separately. All teams will be scored automatically. Team-scoring declarations and fees are not required.
Protests All protests must be submitted in writing 30 minutes after the results of an event are posted per USATF Rule 146. This time period will be strictly enforced. The cost to file a protest is $100 cash. This fee is refundable only if the protest is upheld. Only violations of the 2007 USATF Rules of Competition may be protested. Judgment calls made by meet officials cannot be protested. Protests that do not meet the above criteria will not be accepted. Spike Length The maximum spike length allowed for running events is 1/4" (7.0 mm). The maximum length for the high jump and javelin is 3/8" (0.5 mm). Needle spikes and Christmas tree spikes are not allowed on the runways or aprons. Spikes will be available in the venue village. Implements Meet management will provide batons for the relays and implements for the throwing events (shot, hammer, discus, javelin). Participants must use the implements provided for competition. Personal implements in the throwing events are not allowed. Starting Heights Starting heights for the High Jump will be 10 cm below the qualifying standard; starting heights for the Pole Vault will be 30 cm below the standard. Incremental increases will be 5 cm in the High Jump and 15 cm in the Pole Vault. Pole Vault Refer to USATF Rule 302.5(n). All competitors must provide their own vaulting poles. Implements used in the pole vault competition will be weighed at the Weights & Measures area in the Rice Center. All poles will be inspected for the manufacturer's pole rating and the maximum top-hand hold position as determined by the manufacturer. The competitor's weight must be at or below the manufacturer's pole rating. Poles will be impounded at the time of inspection and delivered to the competition site at the time of the event warm-up. Weigh-in and pole inspection will take place on the following schedule:
Athletes may ship poles in advance of the competition.
