2007 USA Half Marathon Championships January 14, 2007 ![]() Ryan Hall 2007 USA Men's Half Marathon Champion ![]() Elva Dryer 2007 USA Women's Half Marathon Champion Ryan Hall (Woodside, Calif.) dominated the men's field on his way to setting a U.S. half-marathon record of 59 minutes, 43 seconds at the USA Half-Marathon Championships. Elva Dryer (Gunnison, Colo.) out-dueled fellow Olympian Kate O' Neill (Milton, Mass.) to win the women's title in 1:11:42. The championship was hosted by the Aramco Houston Half-Marathon. Hall's time bettered the old record, held by Mark Curp by one minute, 12 seconds and was also a North American record and makes him the eight fastest man all-time in the half-marathon distance on an unaided certified course. The championships featured a total prize purse of $59,500 with $12,000 going to the respective men's and women's champions. Hall also earned bonuses of $4,000 for breaking the existing race record of 1:02:07, plus an additional $5,000 for breaking the American record of 1:00:55. |
