Pre-Training Camp

Osaka University of Health and Sports Sciences in Kumatori

USA Track & Field will be hosting a Pre-Training Camp in conjunction with the 2007 IAAF World Championships to allow athletes the necessary time in the country to adapt to the climate, culture, and time zone prior to their competition.

The camp is scheduled from August 15-20 in the small cities of Kumatori and Rinku. With the Athlete Village Hotel opening on August 21, athletes may arrive in the Osaka area up to 10 days prior to the start of their first event, with the exception of the members of the 4x100m relay pool who are required to arrive at the Training Camp on August 15 and the 4x400m relay pool who are required to arrive at the Training Camp on August 18.

Note: Not all athletes will travel to the Pre-Training Camp in Kumatori/Rinku because their events occur later in the competition schedule. Athlete may have up to 10 days in Osaka using a combination of the Pre-Training Camp in Kumatori/Rinku and the housing in the Athlete Village Hotel prior to the start of their event.

USATF will provide housing, meals, and ground transportation from the Kansai International Airport to the Pre-Training Camp Hotel in Rinku and to and from the practice track at Osaka University for Health & Sports Sciences in Kumatori.

Athletes should have received information on the Pre-Training Camp at Team Sign-up. See event-specific dates that athletes may arrive in Osaka below. Athletes arriving at times other than the pre-set arrival dates below must clear their arrival with their World Championships event coach and forward them to Sandy Snow at Sandy.Snow@usatf.org
