Boulder Express "BX" (Colo.) took their first men's national championship in 2:13:44 and the adidas Raleigh Track Club (N.C.) successfully defended their women's title, running 2:37:43 at the USATF National Club Marathon Relay Championships hosted by the Post-News Colorado Colfax Marathon in Denver, Colo.

In the men's championship Boulder Running Company/adidas (Colo.) finished second and Asics Aggies Running Club (Calf.) finished third.  Rocky Mountain Distance Team-Saucony (Colo.) and Moving Comfort-Montana (Mont.) followed the adidas Raleigh Track Club across the line in the women's championship.

Clubs from California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, and Washington competed in both the men's and women's championships.

With an unprecedented $30,000 in prize money, the marathon relay event was the first of three club championship events in the 2006 USATF Club Championship Series.
