Competition Information Declarations In addition to picking up their numbers/packets, athletes in track events MUST report to the clerk at the track (outside the track oval, past the finish line) at least 1 hour prior to the listed start time to declare their intention to compete. Athletes competing in the first events of the morning may declare the night before. Those athletes who do not declare at least 60 minutes prior to the event will be considered to be not competing. Athletes must declare for first rounds (if scheduled), as well as finals. Athlete Check-In For all track event athletes, in addition to checking in to declare (see above), you must report to the Clerk's Area approximately 15 minutes before the start of your event, where you will be assigned hip numbers. These are to be worn on both hips to assist the timing crew with identification. (Lack of hip numbers at the starting line will delay your race.) At the appropriate time, a clerk will lead your group out to the start. For all field event athletes, check in with the official at the pit or circle when calls are made, approximately 30 minutes before the start of your event. Please do not go out to your venue before the official escorts you out, as it may interfere with other competitors. Warm-Up/Warm-Down Unless a Clerk has marshaled you to the starting area of your race as outlined above, there is absolutely no warming up allowed on the main track. All warm-ups will be outside the track oval or in the gymnasium. After your event has been completed and the officials have released you, please exit the track area immediately. Field Event Implements and Weights & Measures The Weights & Measures area is located next to the shot/weight cage. All personal implements must be submitted to and impounded by the Weights & Measures officials at least 45 minutes before the start of competition. Any implements found not to meet standard will be impounded until the completion of the event. The officials will transport all approved implements to the field only. Meet management for each event will supply a selection of implements. A reminder: according to the USATF Masters exception to the Loss of Identity rule, an athlete need not allow other competitors to use his/her personal implement, if he/she does not wish. However, athletes may allow others to use their approved personal implements if they so wish. Spikes All shoes will be checked, with only 1/4" pyramid spikes or flats permitted. No hexagonal elements or pin spikes permitted. Acceptable spike implements will be available at the meet. Failure to comply with spike restrictions may result in disqualification from the event. Starting Blocks Starting blocks will be provided by meet management in the sprint events, but do not need to be used in order to compete in those events. No personal starting blocks will be allowed. Use of starting blocks is restricted to those provided by the facility. Pole Vault Vaulters must bring their own poles. Starting Heights High jump and pole vault starting heights will be determined by facility equipment and meet officials. The minimum high jump height will be 2 feet 8 inches; minimum pole vault height will be approx. 4 feet. Relays The age division of a relay team is determined by the age of the youngest member. All relay members must have proof of age and USATF membership. Relays may be made up of four members of the same USATF club or be called Ad Hoc. Entry for each team is $20, payable at the Registration Desk until 1 hour before the start of the relay. Protests All protests must be made in writing to the Meet Referee within 30 minutes of the posting of the results, accompanied by a $25 protest fee. This fee will be fully refunded if the protest is upheld; it will be forfeited if the appeal is denied. Protest forms will be available in the Clerk's Area. |
