2006 USA 50 Mile Trail Championships
July 29, 2006 Mike Wolfe, 28, and Nikki Kimball, 35, both of Bozeman, Mont. brought national titles back to the Big Sky state in capturing the open men's and women's championships at the USA 50 Mile Trail Championships on July 29 in Crystal Mountain, Wash. The championships were hosted by the White River 50 Mile Run. Kimball's time of 7:40:57 was her fastest time run on this course and her win marked her fourth consecutive title at this championship. Finishing behind Kimball were Kami Semick (Bend, Ore.) of Bend, Ore. and Meghan Arbogast (Corvallis, Ore.) with times of 7:46:56 and 8:41:53, respectively. Wolfe's time of 7:00:40 carried him to his first U.S. title ever. Phil Kochik (Seattle, Wash.), the 2004 champion, ran 7:07:58 and Dustin Gilbert (Seattle, Wash.) ran 7:09:10 to finish second and third. The masters champions were; Mark Tarr and Semick (40-44), Derrick Carr and Arbogast (45-49), Chuck Dooley (50-54), and Roy Pirrung (55-59). |
