Qualifying Guidelines

  1. All qualifying marks must be attained between January 1, 2005 and July 31, 2006.
  2. Qualifying marks must be achieved during an official competition organized in conformity with IAAF Rules.
  3. Qualifying marks must be achieved during competitions organized or sanctioned by the IAAF, its Area Associations, or its National Member Federations. Thus, results achieved at school competitions must be certified by the National Federation of the country in which the competition was organized.
  4. Marks achieved in mixed events (between male and female participants), held completely in the stadium, will not be accepted (see IAAF Rules).
  5. Wind-assisted marks (over 2 m/sec. or over 4 m/sec. for combined events) will not be accepted (see IAAF Rules).
  6. Indoor marks will be accepted.
  7. Only athletes born in 1987, 1988, 1989, and 1990 can be entered.
  8. The maximum number of individual events in which athletes born in 1989 and 1990 (youth) can compete is two, and only one of these two events can be a race longer than 200m.
  9. Qualifying manual times, for eligible events, are always the F.A.T. qualifying time minus the last zero for events 800m and longer, the F.A.T time minus 0.14 for events of 400m, and the F.A.T time minus 0.24 for events 200m and shorter.
