Competition Information

Declarations

All athletes must declare their intention to compete in an entered event at least one hour before the scheduled start of that event by signing-in at the check-in area with the declaration clerk (in the northeast corner of the Jackson's Track facility). Athletes competing in the first events of the morning may declare the night before. Those athletes who do not declare at least 60 minutes prior to the event will be considered to be not competing. Athletes must declare for preliminary rounds (if scheduled), as well as finals.

Athlete Check-In

For all track event athletes, you must report to the Clerk's Area in the Idaho Center approximately 15 minutes before the start of your event, where you will be assigned hip numbers. These are to be worn on both hips to assist the timing crew with identification. (Lack of hip numbers at the starting line will delay your race.) At the appropriate time, a clerk will lead your group out to the start.

For all field event athletes, you will be called from the Clerk's Area approximately 30-45 minutes before the start of your event when the pit or ring is available. An official will escort your age group to the appropriate venue, where you may measure your marks and/or get your steps. Pole vaulters will be escorted to their runway one hour before competition. Please do not go out to your venue before the official escorts you out, as it may interfere with other competitors.

Warm-Up/Warm-Down

Unless a Clerk has marshaled you to the starting area of your race as outlined above, there is absolutely no warming up allowed on the main track. All warm-ups will be outside the track oval. After your event has been completed and the officials have released you, please exit the track area immediately.

Weights & Measures

The Weights & Measures room is located in the northwest corner of the Jackson Track facility, just west of the weight throw cage. All personal implements must be submitted to and impounded by the Weights & Measures officials at least 45 minutes before the start of competition. Any implements found not to meet standard will be impounded until the completion of the event. The officials will transport all approved implements to the field only. Meet management for each event will supply a selection of implements. A reminder – according to the USATF Masters exception to the Loss of Identity rule, an athlete need not allow other competitors to use his/her personal implement, if he/she does not wish. However, athletes may allow others to use their approved personal implements if they so wish.

Competition Reminders

Starting blocks will be provided by meet management in the sprint events, but do not need to be used in order to compete in those events. Personal blocks will be rejected if they might cause damage to the track surface. The maximum spike length allowed is ¼ inch pyramid. No needles spikes are allowed.

Relays

The age group of the relay team is determined by the age of the youngest member. All relay members must have proof of age and USATF membership. Relays may be made up of four members of the same USATF club or be called Ad Hoc. Entry for each team is $40, payable at the Registration Desk until 2 hours before the start of the relay.

Protests

All protests must be made in writing to the Meet Referee within 30 minutes of the posting of the results, accompanied by a $25 protest fee. This fee will be fully refunded if the protest is upheld; it will be forfeited if the appeal is denied. Protest forms will be available in the Clerk's Area.
