Selection Procedures
USATF will field a team composed of no more than 34 athletes for the 2005
IAAF World Youth Championships in Marrakech, Morocco. Athletes will be selected based on a number of criteria, including the following:
- Athletes must be between the ages of 15-17 (with a required year of
birth: 1988, 1989, or 1990).
- Athletes must compete in one of the following 2004 USATF meets
to be placed in the Selection Pool:
- Selection Pool Athletes must achieve an IAAF
qualifying standard in his/her respective event(s) during the qualifying period.
NOTE: A qualifying standard by itself does not automatically place an
athlete on the team. Only those athletes who meet or better the
IAAF standard with a mark that will rank them as a potential finalist at
the IAAF World Youth Championships will be selected.
- Athletes must be 2005 members of USATF, citizens of the United States, and
eligible to represent the U.S. in international competition. See USATF
Rules and Regulations for more information and exceptions.
USATF reserves the right to modify athlete selections and team size based
upon proof of fitness in 2005. Final team selections will be made by USATF at
the discretion of the selection committee.
