Sports Equipment and Implements

All equipment used during the 10th IAAF World Championships in Athletics is certified by the IAAF. The suppliers are Mondo, Nordic Sport and Kerko Sport.

Throwing Implements

All implements to be used during the 10th IAAF World Championships in Athletics, as well as at all training and warm-up venues, will be provided by the Helsinki 2005 Local Organizing Committee. All implements are certified by the IAAF. The use of personal implements will not be permitted during competition, with the exception of vaulting poles. During training and warm-up, athletes will be permitted to use their own implements.

The following implements have been approved by the IAAF and will be provided by the LOC:

Markers

Athletes are not allowed to use their own markers. For the Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Pole Vault and Javelin, competitors are required to use the markers provided by the LOC. These will be available at the event site. For the relays, athletes will be provided with adhesive tape by the Competition Officials on the track.

Timing and Measurement

SEIKO is the Official Timing Company and will be responsible for the installation and management of all timing and measurement equipment for the stadium and road events. A complete electronic starting system will be used for all races, which will include an electronic starting signal. For the sprint events up to 400m including the relay events, False Start Detection and Auto Recall will be used. Athletes must use the starting blocks provided. A photo finish system will be used to determine race time and position. The medal winners will each receive a commemorative Photo Finish print at the medal ceremony.
