Awards and Prize Money
The top eight (8) athletes (or teams) in each event of the 10th IAAF World
Championships in Athletics will receive the following prizes*:

World Record Bonus*
A prize of $100,000 US will be awarded in cases where a World Record is
broken during the 10th IAAF
World Championships in Athletics. This bonus will only be awarded for
performances which meet all the necessary conditions for recognition as an IAAF
World Record, in accordance with IAAF Regulations and after ratification of the
record by the IAAF. Full details of the regulations regarding this prize are
available from the IAAF upon request. The athletes concerned will be required to
sign a document relating to their rights and obligations with regard to the
partners TDK (for the men) and TOYOTA (for the women). For the women's 3000m SC,
the World Record Bonus prize will be 50,000 $US.
*In all cases, these bonuses will not be awarded until after receipt of the
Doping Control results. In the event that the test proves positive at the 10th
IAAF World Championships in Athletics, the bonus concerned will be withheld.
