Travel Funding

Athletes who are eligible to receive Indoor Championships travel funding, based on the following guidelines, may pick up their checks at packet-pickup prior to the Championships.

  1. Allocations will go to the defending USA Indoor Champion in each event, and then to the top four ranked indoor performers as of 2/16/04, or to the top five ranked indoor performers if the defending champion has not entered.
  2. The athlete must have entered the Championships by the on-time entry deadline on 2/15/04 at 5:00 p.m. ET.
  3. The athlete must have established their qualifying performance in a USATF or IAAF-sanctioned or recognized competition. Any qualifying mark must, if requested, be supported by official results.
  4. The allocation of these funds requires that the athlete compete in the Championships. Failure to do so will require that the funds be returned to USA Track & Field at or immediately after the Championships.
  5. In addition to payment to the five athletes as described above, expenses will also be provided to any athlete who was not allocated funds prior to the Championships, but who wins a medal at the Championships. Medals are awarded to the top four individuals in each event. In such cases, athletes receive this funding after the competition, pending drug test results. This method represents the simplest way that USATF can award its athletes based on performance.
