Entry Information

You must be a 2004 USATF member to enter the Olympic Trials.  If you do not have a 2004 membership, please complete a membership application first. You must also be a U.S. citizen and meet the eligibility requirements and qualifying standards. Separate entry information is available for the Masters Invitational events.

Entry Deadlines and Fees

The entry fee is $10 per athlete (regardless of the number of events entered).  Late entries are by petition only and incur a $250 fee.  All fees are non-transferable and non-refundable.

Entry Process

• Online is the only method of entry. No other form of entry will be accepted.
• Entries must be completed online by June 23, 2004 at 5:00 p.m. ET. There is no late entry period--see entry appeals process.
• A 2004 USATF membership is required to enter (please join online if you are not a member).
• To enter the Olympic Trials, you will be required to provide your 2004 USATF membership number and password (click here to retrieve your password if you don't know it).
• For entries close to the deadlines:  although we will make every reasonable effort, we cannot guarantee responses to requests for passwords.
• A Help Line is available for those who need help with the entry process. For assistance call the USATF National Office at 317-261-0478 x337 during normal business hours, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Entry Appeals Process

• No late entries will be accepted. An appeals process will be available for those athletes who wish to enter after the entry deadline. Appeals must be made on or before July 1, 2004 at 5:00 p.m. ET.
• Appeals may be filed by registering online through the normal entry process. However, please note that submission of an appeal does not guarantee entry into the Olympic Trials. Results of appeals will be displayed on the Status of Entries page.
• Appeals must be accompanied by a non-refundable $250 appeals fee.
• The appeals fee must be paid by credit card. USATF prefers VISA.

A rolling declarations process will be used. Athletes must declare no later than 11:59 p.m. ET, two days prior to the first round of that event.

Late declarations are by petition only and incur a $250 fee.  All fees are non-transferable and non-refundable.

Declaration Process

Once properly entered, all athletes must complete the declaration process. This process confirms your intention to compete in the Olympic Trials and allows you to update your qualifying mark.

• Online is the only method of declaration. No other form of declaration will be accepted.
• A rolling declarations process will be used. An athlete must declare entry into an event no later than 11:59 p.m. ET, two days prior to the first round of that event.
• Declarations will be accepted as per the rolling declaration schedule beginning July 1, 2004 at 8:00 a.m. ET. There is no late declaration period--see declarations appeal process.
• Athletes may declare at any time within the declaration period but no later than the declaration deadline for their event.
• Each athlete or his/her representative must declare whether that athlete will or will not compete in each event entered. The person declaring may submit a corrected or improved mark.
• Athletes not declaring by the event declaration deadline will be SCRATCHED.
• To declare, you will be required to provide your 2004 USATF membership number and password (click here to retrieve your password if you don't know it).

Declaration Appeal Process

• An appeal may be made by calling 317-261-0476 from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon PT.
• Appeals must be accompanied by a non-refundable $250 appeals fee.
• The appeals fee must be paid by credit card. USATF prefers VISA.
