2003 USATF Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships
July 29 - August 3, 2003
The 37th edition of USA Track & Field's National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships is scheduled for July 29 - August 3 at Tropical Park Stadium in Miami. Tropical Park was also the site of the 2002 USA Youth Outdoor Track & Field Championships ("Youth Athletics"), so it will be familiar territory for many returning athletes. It's also an opportunity for fans and athletes alike to see -- and be a part of -- the future of the World's #1 Track & Field Team!
The Junior Olympics program is part of the Verizon Youth Series. Verizon will again honor male and female athletes-of-the meet at this summer's national championships, including the USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships ("Junior Nationals") and the USA Youth Outdoor Track & Field Championships ("Youth Athletics").
The National Junior Olympic Championships attract more than 6,500 competitors each year and more than 9,000 entries. It is the largest and most visible young athlete developmental program in the world. This year's meet should also feature many of the athletes who will have competed for Team USA at the IAAF World Youth Track & Field Championships, held July 9-13, in Sherbrooke, Canada.
Competition age divisions and corresponding birth years are as follows: Bantam (1993-later) Midget (1991-1992) Youth (1989-1990) Intermediate (1987-1988) Young Men/Women (1985-1986; athletes born in 1984 are also eligible if they will still be 18 on August 3, 2003.)
America's next generation of track & field stars will be competing this summer in Miami. The future is now! Join USATF to be a part of it.
