Eligibility Requirements

In addition to correctly entering the meet and having equaled or bettered the qualifying standard(s) during the stated qualifying periods, the following criteria must also be met:

  • Only citizens of the United States who are eligible to represent the U.S. at all levels of international competition in order to compete and who have met the published qualifying standards between July 5, 2002 and June 15, 2003 (November 30, 2002 - June 15, 2003 for indoor competitions) are eligible to compete in these Championships. See the USATF Rules for more information and exceptions.
  • Athletes must be at least 14 years old on the day of competition but not turn 20 years old during 2003. All entries must be accompanied by a copy of a legal document (passport or birth certificate) in order to verify date of birth and citizenship. If you have a valid passport at the time of entry, please use a copy of the information page of your passport as verification of citizenship and birth date. These copies will not be returned. When entering on- line, you must fax a copy of your passport or birth certificate to USATF National Headquarters 317-261-0481 no later than June 9, 2003. (Please direct all faxes to the attention of the USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships.) If sending a paper entry, a copy of your passport information page or birth certificate must be attached.
  • Athletes may enter an event(s) even if they have not yet met the qualifying standard for that event(s). However, athletes will not be permitted to compete unless they have:
    1. Have a 2003 USATF membership
    2. Met the entry standard by June 15, 2003
    3. Completed the entry process
    4. Completed the declaration process
  • Proof of qualifying performance, if required, must be submitted to USATF no later than 5:00 p.m. ET, Tuesday, June 9, 2003. Any submittal received after that date will not be accepted. Please fax to 317-261-0481 or include with your entry. This may either be a copy of the official meet results or a newspaper report that includes the name, event, location, date, times and/or distances of the competition in which you have met the standard(s).
  • All athletes must be 2003 members of USATF in good standing. USATF memberships may be purchased online, through your local Association Office, or by calling the USATF National Headquarters at 317-261-0500.
  • Athletes wishing to represent a branch of the Armed Forces of the United States must be registered with the Membership Committee of their local USATF Association.
