Airline Security Information
Logan International Airport is one of thirteen airports in the US that is
being used as a test site for security measures. Athletes should be aware of the
following upon departure from Boston:
- No metal (not even heavy jewelry or belt buckles) or wrapped items in
carry-on luggage or on-person.
- Pack everything possible in checked luggage.
- Indoor weights and shots must be packed in checked luggage. They will be
confiscated at security if found in carry-on luggage and may be destroyed.
- Vaulting poles are accepted at Logan if air carrier permits them to be
checked. Should athletes get separated from their poles because of change in
flights after check-in, poles will be handled as luggage and held for
pick-up or delivered by carrier to athlete.
- No trucks for vaulting pole storage nor pick-up will be allowed curbside
at Logan. Vaulters are encouraged to ship poles directly to Reggie Lewis.
Poles may be shipped to: Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center, 1350
Tremont Street, Roxbury, MA 02120
- US Airways does not accept E-tickets at the Logan boarding gates. Anyone
flying US Air must check-in either at the kiosk or ticket counter in the
ticket lobby prior to proceeding to the security checkpoint.
- If an item is in doubt as to whether it will pass security, passengers
should pack it in their checked luggage.
