Rounds & Starting Heights

Qualifying Rounds

Qualifying rounds will be carried out in fields events (long and triple jump, shot put, discus throw, javelin throw and hammer throw) if the number of participants exceeds eight (8), competitors will be allowed three (3) attempts. The top eight (8) competitors will be allowed an additional three (3) attempts. The need for these qualifying rounds will be determined at the Technical Meeting. The best eight (8) performances, will qualify for the competition. Ties for the eighth place will be resolved according to IAAF Rule 180.20.

The formation of preliminary rounds (heats) for track events shall be carried out by the Competition Director, taking into account the athlete's best performance during the past twelve months, as stated in their registration form. Advancement to the next round(s) will be regulated by IAAF Rule 166.

Starting Heights

Men's High Jump - The bar will be initially placed at 1.80 m and raised in increments of 5 cm until 2.15 m is reached. Thereafter, the bar will be raised in increments of 3 cm until 2.27 m is reached, and then in increments of 2 cm (1.85, 1.90, 1.95, 2.00, 2.05, 2.10, 2.15, 2.18, 2.21, 2.24, 2.27, 2.29, 2.31, etc.).

Women's High Jump - The bar will be initially placed at 1.50 m and raised in increments of 5 cm until 1.70 m is reached. Thereafter, the bar will be raised in increments of 3 cm until 1.79 m is reached, and then in increments of 2 cm (1.50, 1.55, 1.65, 1.70, 1.73, 1.76, 1.79, 1.81, 1.83, 1.85, 1.87 etc.).

Pole Vault - Initial height will be 3.40 m and the bar will be raised in increments of 10 cm up to 4.50 m, and then in increments of 5 cm (3.40, 3.50, 3.60, 3.70, 3.80, 3.90, 4.00, 4.10, 4.20, 4.30, 4.40, 4.50, 4.55, 4.60, 4.65 4.70, etc.).

Decathlon and Heptathlon - The athlete's delegates will declare the initial height for the pole vault and high jump in the combined events prior to 12:00 noon on the day before the competition begins. The bar will then be raised in 10 cm increments for the pole vault and in 3 cm increments for the high jump.
