November 16, 2003
Tainan County, Taiwan

The 62.1-mile event, to be held November 16 in Tainan County, Taiwan, is the longest annual World Title footrace.

The United States has enjoyed good success at the World 100 km event, highlighted by the World and American records set in 1995, at Winschoten, The Netherlands. Bronze medalist Tom Johnson set the still standing U.S. record (6:30:11) for the distance, while gold medalist Ann Trason set a World mark of 7:00:48 in leading the USA women to a World Record Team effort (22:28:20).

In 2000, Dan Held placed 4th in 6:33 in leading the USA men to silver medals, while the USA women would take home bronze. In 2001, Rich Hanna surprised the world by racing to a silver medal in Cleder, France. Over the last decade, American teams have garnered a total of eight team medals and three individual medalists.
