Steve Vaitones - Assistant Coach, Endurance Events

The Managing Director of USATF's New England Association, Vaitones is a member of the USA Race Walking Committee Executive Board and is a former competitive race walker. As an athlete, he was ranked in the top 10 in the USA at 50 kilometers three times and was an Olympic Trials qualifier. He now serves as the Program Coordinator for the USA Junior Race Walking Team.

His work in the sport has earned three major honors from USA Track & Field: the USATF President's Award for continued contributions to the sport; the Scott Hamilton Award for Contributions to Long Distance Running on local / regional level; and the Mike Riban Award for outstanding contributions to Race Walking. Vaitones has twice served as meet director of the USA Cross Country Championships, and he was a member of the 1999 Pan Am Games staff. Currently he is a volunteer assistant coach for the Mass. Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) women's program.
